Mrs. Leda Tew Matthews

Roseboro Mrs. Leda Tew Matthews, 86, of 497 Ernest Williams Road, passed away Thursday, April 17, 2008 at the Carrol S. Roberson Hospice Center in Fayetteville. A funeral service will be held Sunday, April 20, 2008 at 3:00 p. m. at Butler Funeral Home with the Rev. Andy Wood and Rev. Roger White officiating. Burial will follow in Sunrise Memorial Gardens. Mrs. Matthews was a native of Sampson County and the daughter of the late Halery and Eula McLamb Tew. She was preceded in death by her husband Eustus Matthews. Mrs. Matthews is survived by: son, Vonnice Matthews and wife Jo Ann, of Roseboro; three grandchildren, Tracey Howard and husband Steve, of Autryville, James A. Matthews and wife Ann, of Roseboro and Craig Matthews and wife Carla, of Salemburg; 6 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Adeen Jordan, of Fayetteville and Elma Peterson, of Vander; four brothers, Lacy Tew and H. A. Tew, both of Fayetteville, Cloys Tew, of Stedman and Robert Tew, of Dunn. The family will receive friends Saturday night from 7-9 pm at Butler Funeral Home in Roseboro.
