Mr. Lathan Beal, 77 of Salemburg went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, February 14, 2024 at his home surrounded by his loving family.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday, February 18, 2024 at Union Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Shawn Berryhill officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 PM Saturday evening at Butler Funeral Home in Roseboro and at other times at the home.
Mr. Beal was a native of Sampson County, the son of Rosdan and Oleta Williams Beal. He was preceded in death by his parents; his sons, Rodney Lathan Beal and Kevin Scott Beal; his granddaughter, Lauren Brooke Beal and two brothers, Archie Beal and Wallace Beal.
Lathan was the retired owner and operator of Beal and Son Paint and Body Shop.
Lathan loved people and was always willing to help his family, friends and neighbors in any way he was needed. He enjoyed restoring old antique cars for people and restored several 1966 Mustangs and Volkswagens for himself and others. His pride and joy was his 1970 Volkswagen Beetle that he restored. He enjoyed going to car shows and especially Volkswagen shows, where he won many trophies throughout the years.
He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Connie D. Beal of the home; sister, Iris Beal Barefoot of Greensboro; brother, G. R. Beal and wife Faye of Autryville; special niece, Missy Beal Lynch; two special great nephews, Conner Faircloth and Cameron Faircloth; and several other nieces and nephews.
