Mr. Larry Clifton Tanner, 61 of Roseboro, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, August 20, 2026 at UNC Rex Hospital.

A funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM on Sunday, August 23, 2026 at Butler Funeral Home in Roseboro. The burial will follow at the Tanner Family Cemetery (137 Lauren Lane, Garland).

The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM to 2:50 PM on Sunday, August 23, 2026 at the funeral home prior to the service.

Larry was a native of Sampson County, the son of Clifton “Tic” and Stella Mae New Tanner. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his beloved dog, Petey.

He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife, Charlotte Tanner; three sons, Jonathan Tanner and wife, Lauren; Brandon Tanner and wife, Madelyn; and Wesley Tanner and wife, Tori; six grandchildren, Hayden, Harper, Hadleigh, Maddon, Winston and Baby Tanner arriving in October 2026; his sister, Janice Tart; his brother, Steve Tanner; his niece, Stephanie; his nephew, Matthew; Charles Glen (Pop Tart) Tart, more of a little brother than a nephew; lifelong best friends, Wayne Branch, Hal Knowles and Nick Gooden; and special friend, Frankie Strickland.
