Mr. Kenneth “Buddy” Pope, Jr. 85 of Roseboro went home to be with the Lord on Monday, February 27, 2023 at his home surrounded by his family.

A funeral service will held at 2:00 PM Friday, March 3, 2023 at Peniel Pentecostal Holiness Church with Rev. Tommy Oliver and Bishop Jessie Blalock officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Thursday evening at Butler Funeral Home in Roseboro and at other times at the home.

Mr. Pope was a native of Sampson County, the son of Kenneth Pope and Mallie Strickland Pope.  He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Thomas Wesley Pope and four sisters.  He was a retired supervisor with Burlington Industries.

He is survived by his wife, Idella Pope of the home; son, Tommy Kenneth Pope and wife, Betty of Roseboro; two daughters, Della Pope Sessoms and husband, Randy and Wanda Pope Edwards all of Roseboro; eight grandchildren, Shannon Bass, Tommy Pope, Jr., Kristy Jackson, Martin Edwards, Jr., Justin Sessoms, Tori Johnson, Wesley Pope, II and Caylen Hairr; many step grandchildren and many great grandchildren.

The family would like to say a special thanks to his nurse, Kristy Jackson and 3 HC Hospice for all the special care that was given to Kenneth during his illness.
