Kenneth Allen Hughes, age 70, of Fayetteville, North Carolina, went to his heavenly home on Monday, January 12, 2026, after his battle with cancer.

Ken was born on October 17, 1955, in Newport, Virginia. He grew up in South Creek, NC and later served in the Army as part of the 18th Airborne Signal Corps stationed at Ft. Bragg, NC. Following his military service, Ken spent over 30 years working as a Barge Captain.

Ken married Sandra Hoffman on November 30, 1979, becoming not only a devoted husband but also an instant father.

He is survived by his wife Sandy, children Lori Clark (Wayne) and Roy Hoffman (Heather) His grandchildren Elicia Williams (James), Christopher Furtado (Taylor), Meghan Clark (River Livaudais), Stephanie Clark (Anthony Elizarraras), Sierra Wiley, Brittny Pierce (Damien), Brandon Hoffman, and 6 great grandchildren.

He is also survived by his sisters Kathy Winfrey (Sandy) and Deborah Potter (James)

He was preceded in death by his father Gerald Hughes, his mother Martha Lupton Hughes, grandson Christopher Clark; and brother Dean Hughes.

Ken enjoyed the company of close friends that became family, his morning coffee, and watching his westerns.

A memorial service will be held at Galilee Free Will Holiness Church, 3525 Sunnyside School Rd. Fayetteville NC, 28312, on Saturday, Feburary 7, 2026, at 11 a.m.

Services entrusted to Butler Funeral Home, 6535 Clinton Road, Stedman, NC 28391.
