Kenneth Joe Ellis, 88 went to be with the Lord on Saturday, June 24, 2023 at the VA Hospital in Fayetteville surrounded by his family.

A memorial service with full military honors will be held at 1:00 PM Friday, June 30, 2023 at Butler Funeral Home Chapel in Stedman, officiating will be Chaplain Major Christopher Kitchens.

Joe is preceded in death by his parents, Fred Ellis and Bertha Daugherty Ellis; wife, Connie Lee Ellis; and several siblings.

Joe retired as a SFC from the United States Army, and while serving his country he served two tours in Vietnam.  He also was owner and operator of Ellis Construction Company for over 40 years.  Joe was a loving father, grandfather and great grandfather and will be truly missed by all who knew him.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his daughters, Geneva "Genny" Lee Manke & husband, Rod of Fayetteville, and Shana Oaks of Hope Mills; grandchildren, William Donald Saxon and Shane Oaks both of Fayetteville, and Lisa Zeeveld & husband, Mike of Atlanta, GA; and great grandchildren, Katelyn and Jacob Zeeveld.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Joe's memory to the local SPCA, 200 Petfinder Lane, Raleigh, NC  27603; or to the Commission For The Blind, (NCDHHS) 2601 Mail Service Center, Raleigh, NC  27699-2601.

The family would like to thank the staff at the VA Nursing Home for their love and care that they showed Joe while he was in their care.
