GODWIN Mr. Kenneth Bruce Beard, 56 of 3139 Baptist Chapel Road, Godwin, died on Wednesday, October 19, 2011 at Betsy Johnson Regional Medical Center in Dunn. A memorial service will be held at 3:00 P.M. on Saturday, October 22, 2011 at Butler Funeral Home with Rev. Ken Hollingsworth officiating. Mr. Beard was born on March 21, 1955 in Cumberland County to the late David Love and Berta Carter Beard. He is preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, Joseph Beard. He is survived by: one daughter, Kimberly Beard Hemphill and husband, Joseph of Bunn Level; one son, Jerry Bruce Beard of Spring Lake; six sisters, Peggy Schaffer of Dunn, Delma Blackwell of Hope Mills, Irene Marshburn of Salemburg, Judie Vinson of Beaver Dam, Diana Atkins of Mamers and Lisa Horne of Salemburg; one brother, Tommy Beard of Vander; and four grandchildren, David Beard, Gage Beard, Hayley Beard and Isabelle Hemphill. The family will receive friends on Saturday afternoon from 2 to 3 P.M. at Butler Funeral Home in Roseboro, and other times at the home of Virglene Hales, 2540 Butler Island Road, Roseboro.
