Mrs. Karen Nicole Gates, 50 of Roseboro passed away on Sunday, March 28, 2021 at the Sampson Regional Medical Center.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday, April 1 at Butler Funeral Home in Roseboro with Rev. Bryan Strickland officiating.

Mrs. Gates was a native of Cumberland County and was a homemaker. She is preceded in death by her father, Jerry Thurman Vinson, Sr.

She is survived by her husband, Bill Gates of the home; mother, Kathryn Cockman of Roseboro; father, James Carter of Texas; brothers, Billy Joe Carter of Texas and Jerry Vinson, Jr. of NC; sister, Kasey Whitten (Chad) of Texas; maternal grandfather, Richard Washburn of NC sister-in-law, Susanne Gates (Craig Soltis); and several nieces and nephews.
