Mr. Joseph Junior Strickland, 76

ROSEBORO Mr. Joseph Junior Strickland, 76 of 1361 Andrews Chapel Road, Roseboro, died on Friday, December 30, 2011 at Southwood Nursing and Retirement Center in Clinton. The funeral will be held at 3:00 P.M. on Monday, January 2, 2012 at White Oak Baptist Church with Rev. Stephen Porter and Rev. Roger White officiating. Burial will follow at Sunrise Memorial Gardens in Salemburg. Mr. Strickland was born on October 17, 1935 in Sampson County to the late Luke and Myrtle Lee Strickland. He is preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Rebecca Wood; and one brother, Frankie Strickland. He was a farmer. He is survived by: his wife, Elsie Holden Strickland of the home; one daughter, Joy Pope and husband, Kirk of Roseboro; one son, Frankie Strickland of the home; two grandchildren, Jeffrey Pope and Abbie Pope; two sisters, Betty Barefoot of Roseboro and Ellen Pearsall and husband, David of Salemburg; and two brothers, James Strickland and wife, Edna and Robert Strickland and wife, Dot all of Salemburg. The family will receive friends on Sunday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at Butler Funeral Home in Roseboro and other times at the home. Services entrusted to Butler Funeral Home, 401 W.
