ROSEBORO
Mr. Joseph Lutrell Owen, 85 of Roseboro, passed quietly into his next life on Thursday, September 29, 2016 at his home surrounded by loved ones.
Joseph was born on March 25, 1931 in Cumberland County to two loving parents, Katie and Lutrell Owen of Roseboro. He is preceded in death by his parents; a grandson, Chad Jordan; and a son-in-law, Ronnie Jordan.
Joseph was a sweet man that devoted his life to his family. His best buddy was his cat, "buddylove". He enjoyed antiques from household antiques to cars and tractors. He enjoyed working on small engines and in his younger years he enjoyed flounder giggin’ at the beach and camping at White Lake. But most of all, those that knew him, knew that he was always joking and cutting up with those around him. He enjoyed laughing and he enjoyed making others laugh with his practical jokes.
He was a past member of the Roseboro Masonic Lodge # 585 and was a Veteran of the US Air Force.
Joseph is survived by his wife of 63 years, Selma Lee Carter; daughter, Dixie Jordan-Coats and husband Tommy Coats of Clinton; daughter, Caroline Sandy and husband Arnold Sandy of Roseboro; three grandchildren, Dana Jordan Jones and husband Jeff Jones of Clinton, Ben Sandy and wife Kristina Sandy of Roseboro, Joshua Sandy of Georgia; two great grandchildren, Jayna Jones of Clinton, Benleigh Sandy of Roseboro.
The family would like to acknowledge special friends, Danny Jordan, Tony Hall and A.J. Jones, and also express a sincere thank you to the 3HC caregivers for their kindness and compassion shown to each of the family during their time of need.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 2:45 pm Sunday at Butler Funeral Home in Roseboro. The funeral will follow at 3:00 pm with Reverend Andy Wood officiating. Interment will follow at Roseboro Cemetery.
Services are by Butler Funeral Home, 401 W. Roseboro Street, Roseboro.
