Mr. Joseph Thomas Mayner, 72 went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, November 9, 2021 at Warsaw Health and Rehabilitation Center.

A memorial service will be held 2:00 PM on Monday, November 15, 2021 at Butler Funeral Home in Roseboro with Pastor Gary Strickland and Pastor Bailey Weeks officiating. A private burial will be held at a later date at Butler Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00-1:50 PM at the funeral home prior to the service.

Mr. Mayner was a native of Sampson County, the son of Joseph Andrew and Olivia Cleone Weeks Mayner. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Henrietta Kathryn Mayner Harrfield. He was a retired employee of Goodyear Tire Company where he had 30 years of dedicated service. Mr. Mayner was also a veteran of the United States Navy and was stationed at Naval Air Station Oceana in Virginia Beach, VA. where he met his wife of 33 years Terry LaGrotta Mayner. He graduated from Roseboro-Salemburg High School in 1969.

He leaves to cherish his memory his son, Kenneth Mayner of Autryville; his son’s mother, Terry Mayner of Lumberton; his brother-in-laws Wayne Harrifeld, Randy LaGrotta, Larry LaGrotta; his sister-in-laws Linda Garrenton and Cheryl Anderson; and numerous other cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
