HAMPSTEAD Mr. Jonnie "Bruce" Hollingsworth, 71 of Hampstead, died on Monday, November 14, 2011 at Lower Cape Fear Hospice Care Center of Wilmington after a long illness. He will rest in peace, secure in his faith and the love of his family and friends. The memorial service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Friday, November 18, 2011 at Butler Funeral Home with Rev. Jenny Wilson officiating. Inurnment will follow at Sunrise Memorial Gardens with Military Honors. Mr. Hollingsworth was born and raised in Salemburg by his parents, Edward Blackmon and Eva Belle Owens Hollingsworth, Sr. He is preceded in death by his parents and his brothers and sisters, Edward Blackmon Hollingsworth, Jr., Edna McPhail and Glenn Hollingsworth. He served in the US Navy and worked for the Veteran's Administration in Fayetteville and also in New York before returning to school. He then graduated from Methodist College in Fayetteville before his career with the Internal Revenue Service. After retirement, his family moved to the Straits, Carteret County, and eventually to Hampstead where he lived out his life. He will be missed greatly as a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and brother by: his wife, Nancy Edwards Hollingsworth of the home; three daughters, Debbie Bitler of Wilmington, Lora Ruane of Morehead City and Donna Cummings of Charlotte; two sons, Thomas Hollingsworth of Blue Springs, Missouri, and Ronald Hollingsworth of Brunswick; his sister, Dixie Williams of Salemburg; and five grandchildren. The family will receive friends on Friday afternoon from 1 to 2 P.M. at Butler Funeral Home in Roseboro. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Wrightsboro United Methodist Church Missions, 3300 N. Kerr Avenue, Wilmington, NC 28405; or to Lower Cape Fear Hospice Care Center, 1406 Physicians Drive, Wilmington, NC 28401. Service entrusted to Butler Funeral Home, 401 W.
