Mr. Johnny Paul Royal, 70 went to be with the Lord on Saturday, February 19, 2022 at his home, with his brother by his side.

A memorial service will be held at 3:00 PM Sunday, February 27, 2022 at Bethany United Methodist Church, officiating will be Pastor Wise and Pastor Faircloth.

The family will receive friends at the church from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the church before the service.

He was born in Cumberland County to the late Arthur and Pansy Herlocker Royal.

Johnny Paul was a member of the first graduating class of Cape Fear High School, where he also served as a student bus driver.  After graduation he went on to study electronics at Massey Technical Institute in Florida.  He later became the owner/operator of Car Tronics in Fayetteville, North Carolina.

Johnny Paul was a member of the Carpenter's House Church of Fayetteville and was recognized for forty plus (40+) years of dedicated service in the sound booth.  He later returned to his home church, Bethany United Methodist, where he served as acolyte as long as he was physically able.  A service that was truly inspiring.

Johnny Paul enjoyed music and was a self-taught harmonica player.  His favorite song was "Whispering Hope".

Most importantly, Johnny Paul loved his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.  He knew his Bible well and believed every word.

As we celebrate the life of Johnny Paul Royal, take note of some words from his favorite song:

He leaves to cherish his memory, his brother, Joel Royal; aunts, Wanda McMillan and Corenna Cain; and numerous cousins and friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that a memorial gift be made to Bethany United Methodist Church, 2285 Wade Stedman Road, Stedman, NC  28391.
