Mr. Johnny Curtis “J. C.” Bass, 76 of Roseboro went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, February 28, 2023 at his home.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, March 4, 2023 at Carr’s Chapel Freewill Holiness Church with Rev. Billy Bass officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 – 1:50 PM at Carr’s Chapel Freewill Holiness Church on Saturday prior to the service.

Mr. Bass was a native of Bladen County, the son of Arey and Kathleen Conner Bass.  He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Vera Aretha Bass; daughters, Lorita McAlister and Lena Bass; and a great grandson, Javon McAlister.  He was a farmer.

He is survived by his wife, Judy Bass of the home; daughter, Peggy Merritt and husband, James of Newton Grove; sister, Lucille Parker of Florida; seven grandchildren, Johnna Bass, Angelita McAlister, Jameson McAlister, Jaylen McAlister, Angel Gomez, Brittany Weuster and Serena Parsons; four great grandchildren.
