Mr. Johnnie B. Hales, 58

HAMPSTEAD Mr. Johnnie Barton "J-Bird" Hales, 58 of 254 Zonnie Lane, died on Wednesday, May 12, 2010 at New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, May 16, 2010 at 3:00 P.M. at Butler Funeral Home with Rev. Jeff Nichols and Rev. Travis Horrell officiating. Burial will follow at the Coston Hales Family Cemetery in Roseboro. Mr. Hales was born on August 21, 1951 and was a native of Sampson County. He is preceded in death by his father, Johnnie Coston Hales. He was a self-employed Brick Mason. Mr. Hales is survived by: his wife, Jo Ann Hales of the home; one son, Johnnie O. Hales and wife, Traci of Atkinson; two daughters, Angela Thomas and husband, A.J. of Green, Kansas, and Misty Rose and husband, Josh of Hampstead; his mother, Virglene Hales of Roseboro; three sisters, Gale Bullard and husband, Larry of Autryville, Sue Porter of Roseboro, and Judy Hales of Stedman; two brothers, Carl Hales of Roseboro, and Roger Jessup and wife, Rhonda of Turkey; four grandchildren, Autumn, Cheyanne, Dakota, and Starlena; and his mother-in-law, Deloris Hunnicutt of Hampstead. The family will receive friends on Saturday evening from 6 to 8 P.M. at Butler Funeral Home in Roseboro.
