AUTRYVILLE Mr. John Wesley Sims, IV., 23 of 1478 Carroll Store Road, passed away on Friday, October 2, 2009 at Sampson Regional Medical Center in Clinton. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, October 7, 2009 at 11:00 A.M. at Union Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. Allen West, Rev. Richard Spell, Rev. Paul Honeycutt and Rev. Rob Wingo officiating. Burial will follow at the T.J. Hall Cemetery in Autryville. Mr. Sims was born in Hampton, Virginia and was a wastewater operator with Smithfield Packing Company in Clinton. Mr. Sims is survived by: father, John W. Sims, III., of Clinton; mother and step-father, Julia and Layton McPhail, of Autryville; two brothers, Joshua Sims, of Autryville and Jacob Sims, of Clinton; sister, Janna Sims, of Autryville; three step-brothers, Thomas McPhail, William McPhail and Samuel McPhail, all of Autryville; maternal great-grandmother, Elsie Hall, of Autryville; paternal grandfather and grandmother, Ret. Lt. Col. John W. Sims, Jr. and Darlene Sims, of Tampa, FL. The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening from 6 until 8 P.M. at Butler Funeral Home, 401 W. Roseboro Street, Roseboro.
