John Robert Gatlin (Robbie) of Roseboro, NC was born in Elizabeth City, NC on May 13, 1985 and passed away on November 18, 2024 at his home in Roseboro.

A celebration of life service will be held at 5:00 PM on Wednesday, November 20, 2024 at Butler Funeral Home in Roseboro, with the Reverend Bobby Herring officiating.

The family will receive friends from 4:00 to 4:50 PM on Wednesday, November 20, 2024 at Butler Funeral Home in Roseboro.

Those of you who knew Robbie know that he loved his family. His world revolved around Dana and his kids. He loved to hunt and fish and being outdoors was his favorite place to be. He was a self-taught mechanic, and there was not much he could not fix. He had a sense of humor that could not be contained. He kept everyone laughing and smiles on the faces around him.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, John Robert and Eloise Hairr; his paternal grandparents, Evelyn Newbern and Ashton Berry Gatlin, Sr. and beloved father in law, Michael Smith, and maternal aunt and uncle, Willie and Willarise Powell.

Survived by his childhood sweetheart and loving wife of 18 years, Dana Gatlin; son, Jacob Gatlin, 17; daughter, Alayna Gatlin, 13; Son, Parker, 7, all of the home; his mother Chrystal Hall of Roseboro, his father, Ashton Berry Gatlin II (Betty) of Salemburg, his brother, Ashton Berry Gatlin III (Robyn), and nephews Ben and Brody Gatlin of Autryville, his step-sister, Carly Fogleman (Eric) and niece Emilia and nephew Nolan of Four Oaks, Aunt Cleta Ann Sessoms of Parkton, brother, Brandon Grice and family from Hope Mills.
