Mr. John Roosevelt "J.R." Mevin

Fayetteville Mr. John R. Melvin, 75 of 2135 Dillion Dr. died Tuesday at the Carolina Inn at Village Green. Mr. Melvin was the son of the late Henry and Alene Melvin. He retired from Fasco as a machinist. Funeral services will be conducted at 3 P.M. Friday October 17, 2008 at Carroll Memorial Baptist Church, with the Rev. Richard Edwards and Tom Schaffernoth officiating. Burial will follow at LaFayette Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 7-9 PM, Thursday, October 16, 2008 at Butler Funeral Home in Stedman. Mr. Melvin is survived by his wife Kathleen Melvin of the home; daughter Connie Schaffernoth and husband Tom of California; sisters, Lettie Roberts of Trenton, Fla., Edith Snyder of Masontown, West Va. and Letrisha Greenier of Fayetteville; brother Eugene Melvin of Fayetteville; and grandchildren, Joseph, Nathan and Elizabeth Schaffernoth of California.
