Mr. John Love " Johnny" Holland,, 81 Jr.

SALEMBURG Mr. John Love "Johnny" Holland, Jr., 81, of Salemburg died Thursday, January 23, 2014, at Sampson Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be at 3:00 P.M. on Sunday, January 26, 2014, at Salemburg Baptist Church with Rev. John Adams officiating. Burial will follow in the Salemburg Cemetery with fireman honors. Mr. Holland was born on July 30, 1932, in Sampson County to the late John Love, Sr. and Bertha Warren Holland. He is also preceded in death by a son, David Lynn Holland. Mr. Holland was an Army veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was also a dedicated member and deacon of Salemburg Baptist Church and he was a long time member of the Salemburg Fire Department where he served as past Fire Chief and numerous other roles in the department. He was a retired Building Contractor. He is survived by: his wife, Jean Cooper Holland of the home; daughter, Brenda Holland Mattocks and husband, Paul of Wilson; three grandchildren, Brittni Winslow, Holli Mattocks and Josh Mattocks; one great grandchild, Brooklyn Love Winslow and one sister, Grace Burton of Charlotte. The family will receive friends on Sunday afternoon in the Church Sanctuary from 1:15 P.M. to 2:45 P.M., and other times at the home. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Salemburg Baptist Church, P.O. Box 537, Salemburg, NC 28385; or to Salemburg Volunteer Fire Department, P.O. Box 240, Salemburg, NC 28385.
