Mr. John "Buzz" Averitte Jr.

STEDMAN MR. John Langston "Buzz" Averitte Jr., 72, of 116 Wade-Stedman Rd. died Saturday, November 10 at Carrol S. Roberson Hospice Center in Fayetteville. He was born October 18, 1935 to Langston and Irene Averitte. He served in the U.S. Army and was a veteran of the Korean War. He was a founding member of the Stedman Fire Department, serving as a boardmember and a fireman. He was retired from the Fort Bragg Fire Department. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, November 14 at Cokesbury United Methodist Church with Rev. Rose Conner officiating. Burial will follow at LaFayette Memorial Park. Mr. Averitte is survived by his wife, Lela Faircloth Averitte of the home; daughter, Sonjia Averitte of Stedman; son, John Langston Averitte III and wife Helen of Fayetteville; grandchildren, Dustin Phillips of Stedman, Megin Phillips of Hope Mills and Sara Bunce of Stedman; sisters, JoAnn Heath of Stedman and Jean Francis and husband Lee also of Stedman; several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 P.M. Tuesday, November 13 at Butler Funeral Home in Stedman.
