Mr. Joseph "Button" Allen Melvin, Sr., 65 went to be with the Lord Thursday, December 23, 2021 at UNC Rex Hospital.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, December 29, 2021 at Peters Creek Baptist Church with Reverend David Bays and Reverend Stan Carter officiating. Burial will follow at Melvin Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 PM on Tuesday, December 28, 2021 at Butler Funeral Home in Roseboro.

Mr. Melvin was a native of Bladen County, the son of Robert B. Melvin, Sr. and Margie King Melvin. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Myrtle Melvin and brother, Robert B. Melvin, Jr.

He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Sheila Britt Melvin of the home; two sons, Joseph Allen Melvin, Jr. and wife, Karen Parton Melvin of Bryson City; and Robert Edmund Melvin and wife, Kristen Eudy Melvin of Leland; seven grandchildren, Emma, Athena, Adayah, Ian, Shona, Raven and Ryott; sister, Brenda Melvin of Wilmington; brother, Doug Melvin and wife, Doris of Garland; and several nieces and nephews.
