Mr. Joe Cyrus "J.C." Carter, Jr., 61 of Benson and formerly of Autryville, passed away Wednesday, February 3, 2016 at Liberty Commons Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Benson.

A graveside service will be held at 3:00 pm Saturday, February 6, at Lonnie Carter Cemetery, Autryville Road, Autryville, with military honors.

He was born on November 7, 1954 in Sampson County and is preceded in death by his parents, Joe Cyrus and Velma West Carter. He was a Veteran of the US Army during the Vietnam War era.

He is survived by one brother, Jimmy Carter of Autryville; and two sisters, Brenda Honeycutt and husband Richard of Godwin, and Wanda Purvis and husband Sonny of Greenville.

The family would like to thank the staff of Liberty Commons Nursing Home for their care during his stay.
