Mr. Jerome W. Creeger, 72

CLINTON Mr. Jerome William "Sonny" Creeger, Jr., 72 of 1570 Five Bridge Road, passed away on Sunday, November 9, 2008 at Southwood Nursing and Retirement Center in Clinton. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 12, 2008 at 2:00 P.M. at Corinth Baptist Church with Rev. Josh Owen, Rev. Sam Gore, and Rev. Tommy Honeycutt officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Mr. Creeger was born in 1935 in Tiffin, Ohio to the late Jerome W. and Sarah Beam Creeger, Sr. He served honorably in the United States Marine Corp for 3 years. He married on September 1, 1956 and moved from Ohio to North Carolina in 1970. He worked for over 20 years as a Lead Foreman with Hamilton-Beach Corporation. He was retired from the Maintenance Department at Sampson Community College. Mr. Creeger is survived by: his wife, Sophia G. Matthews Creeger, of the home; one daughter, Connie Teresa Kraft and husband Wayne, of Salemburg; two sons, Gregory William Creeger and wife Joan, of Salisbury, and Douglas Jerome Creeger and wife Melanie, of Roseboro; one brother, Walter G. "Skip" Creeger, of Fostoria, Ohio; five grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, and one step-great grandchild; and several nieces and nephews. Family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6 until 8 P.M. at Butler Funeral Home, 401 W. Roseboro Street, Roseboro, and other times at the home. In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be made to the Corinth Baptist Church Memorial Fund, 991 Corinth Church Road, Salemburg, N.C. 28385.
