Mr. James Henry Starling, Sr., 79 of Stedman, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, March 18, 2025 at Valley Hospice House surrounded by his family.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, March 22, 2025 at Butler Funeral Home in Stedman with the Reverend William Hall officiating. The burial will follow at Stedman Church of God of Prophecy Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 1:50 PM on Saturday, March 22, 2025 at the funeral home prior to the service, and at other times the family will receive friends at the home of Brittney West Locklear, 5172 Jefferson Street, Stedman, NC 28391.

Mr. Starling was a native of Cumberland County, the son of Wesley Elijah and Annie Mae Davis Starling. He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Anthony Wayne Starling; eight brothers; and his sister.

He leaves to cherish his memory his son, James Henry Starling, Jr. of Autryville; two daughters, Doris Starling West of Autryville; and Cheryl Adams (Todd) of Four Oaks; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; three sisters, Bernice Russell of Stedman; Elizabeth Horne (Curwood) of Fayetteville; and Linda Starling of Hillsborough; and his brother, Roger Starling of Fayetteville.
