FAYETTEVILLE Mr. James David Owens, 78 of 7578 Tabor Church Road, died on Saturday, July 31, 2010 at The Carrol S. Roberson Hospice Center in Fayetteville. The funeral service will be held on Monday, August 2, 2010 at 2:00 P.M. at Butler Funeral Home with Rev. Donald Baldwin officiating. Burial will follow at Cross Creek Cemetery in Fayetteville. Mr. Owens was born on May 17, 1932 in Sampson County and was the son of the late John Oliver and Virginia Mae Royal Owens. He is preceded in death by: his wife, Shirley Ann Combs Owens; one son, Jimmy Ray Owens; one brother, J.C. Owens; and two sisters, Berline Honeycutt and Lari Dean Lucas. He worked as a Track Loader Operator in the Construction Industry. Mr. Owens is survived by: one son, David Ray Owens and wife, Maggie of Fayetteville; two brothers, Bobby Owens and wife, Wilma of Elm City, and Rev. Mike Owens and wife, Gail of Stedman; two sisters, Clara Johnson and husband, Junior of Roseboro, and Nancy Hollingsworth and husband, Don of Buies Creek; six grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, and four great grandchildren. The family will receive friends on Sunday evening from 7 to 9 P.M. at Butler Funeral Home in Stedman, and other times at home.
