Mr. James A. Matthews, 77

MCLEANSVILLE Mr. James Alston Matthews, 77 of 5533 Burlington Road, died on Friday, July 9, 2010 at Ashton Place in McLeansville. The funeral service will be held on Monday, July 12, 2010 at 11:00 A.M. at Butler Funeral Home with Rev. Erfie Hayes officiating. Burial will follow at Old Bluff Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Wade. Mr. Matthews was a native of Cumberland County and the son of the late James Alston, Sr. and Mallie Hayes Matthews of Wade. He was formerly of Wade and served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He had recently been employed with the Guilford County School System. Mr. Matthews is survived by: his sister, Shelby Presler and husband, Bruce of Greensboro; three brothers, Payton Matthews and wife, Connie, Dwight Matthews and wife, Susie, and Graham Matthews all of Wade; two nieces and two nephews. The family will receive friends on Monday from 10 to 11 A.M. at Butler Funeral Home in Stedman. Arrangements by Butler Funeral Home, 6535 Clinton Road, Stedman.
