Mr. James G. "Jimbo" Dunnagan Sr., 82 of 3548 Hayfield Rd. died Thursday, May 29, 2008, in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.
A graveside service will be held at 3 P.M. Monday June, 2, 2008 in LaFayette Memorial Park, in Fayetteville with the Rev. Jerry Groves officiating.
Visitation will take place from 1 to 2 P.M. Monday at Butler Funeral Home in Stedman.
Mr. Dunnagan wo was affectionally known as "Jimbo" was the son of the late James E. and Mary Lillian Stafford Dunnagan. He was also preceded in death by his wife of 32 years, Jettie Lou Dunnagan. He was a graduate of Fayetteville High School, where he excelled in sports. He was a veteran of World War II and was a former member of Trinity Baptist Church, where he served on the Deacon Board. After retirement from the military, he worked for the civil service as a postmaster. Later in life, he became very involved in the Stedman Youth Association and Cape Fear High School athletics, and he enjoyed golf. Above all, he was a wonderful father, grandfather and friend to all.
Mr. Dunnagan is survived by his son, James G. Dunnagan Jr. of Wilmington, grandson James G. Dunnagan III of Jefferson; granddaughter Laurie D. Blasi of Italy; sister, Sarah Louise Daniell of Lakeland, Fla.; and is also survived by special loved ones, Clayton L. "Claymore" Taylor and wife Suzanne of Greenville, Annette B. Jenkins of Fayetteville and Pamela B. Taylor of Stedman; and three great-grandchildren, Ethan and Taley Dunnagan of Jefferson, and Claybrook Taylor of Greenville.
