FAYETTEVILLE
Mr. James Austin Cannon, 61, of Fayetteville died Tuesday, June 4, 2013 at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center. He was a mechanic at Haymount BP for 38 years. He was owner/mechanic at Highland Pure Service Station on Raeford Road before closing approximately 3 years ago. He was predeceased by his father, George P. Cannon and a brother, Tommy Cannon. Two of his favorite pastimes were golf and Tarheel basketball.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 P.M., Friday, June 7 at Cumberland Union Baptist Church with Pastor Frank Doublin and Rev. John Blackman, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
He is survived by his mother, Beatrice Kinlaw of Fayetteville; his daughter, Jennifer Cannnon of Fayetteville; two sisters, Judy Canady of Elizabeth City and Bobby Stewart of Fayetteville; a brother, Bruce Cannon of Fayetteville; 7 nieces, 4 nephews; numerous great nieces and nephews; and his beloved dog, Precious.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M., Thursday, June 6 at Cumberland Union Baptist Church Fellowship Hall.
