James Durwood Beasley, 81 went to be with the Lord on Friday, September 11, 2026 at Elizabethtown Healthcare & Rehabilitation Center.

Funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Monday, September 14, 2026 at Evergreen Baptist Church in Autryville, officiating will be Pastor Tommy Honeycutt and Pastor Charles Davis. Burial will follow at Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetery in Fayetteville.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM to 1:50 PM Monday at the church prior to the service. The family will receive friends at other times at Durwood’s residence (4507 NC Hwy 210 S., Fayetteville, NC 28312).

Durwood is preceded in death by his parents, James Melvin Beasley and Velvia Stancil Beasley; wife, Gayle Johnson Beasley; brother, Curtis Dwayne Beasley; brother’s-in-law, Bob Powers, Pedro Hall and Jimmy Griffin; and sister’s-in-law, Gail Beasley and Vanessa Warren.

Durwood was a Veteran of the United States Air Force. He also worked for Highland Paving Company for many years, and was a longtime member of Evergreen Baptist Church.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his sisters, Joyce B. Powers, Hazel B. Hall, and Geraldine Griffin Vinson & husband, Randle; brother, Donald Nelson Beasley & wife, Kay; sister’s-in-law, Sheila Bullock & husband, Roy and Judy Beasley; brother-in-law, Jay Warren; and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
