Autryville

Mr. Jack Tanner, 79 of Autryville went home to be with the Lord on Friday, December 8, 2023 at Duke University Hospital in Durham.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, December 12, 2023 at Butler Funeral Home in Roseboro with Rev. Andy Wood officiating.  Burial will follow in the Tanner Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 – 1:50 PM on Tuesday at Butler Funeral Home prior to the service.

Mr. Tanner was a native of Sampson County, the son of William Henry and Carrie Parker Tanner.  He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Edith Faircloth Tanner; grandson, Benjamin Tanner; sisters, Clyde T. Davis, Callie Tanner, Eva Tanner and Lossie Tanner; and brothers, Bud Tanner, Lacy Tanner, Marvin Tanner and Roland Tanner.  He was retired from the N. C. Department of Transportation in Clinton.

He is survived by two sons, Ronald Jack Tanner and wife, Sara of Autryville and Jerry Allen Tanner and wife, Nicki of Wilmington; five grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
