Mr. Hubert Roy Matthews, 85

AUTRYVILLE Mr. Hubert Roy Matthews, 85 of 2691 Howard Road, Autryville, died on Saturday, April 26, 2014 at Sampson Regional Medical Center in Clinton. The funeral will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Tuesday, April 29, 2014 at Corinth Baptist Church with Rev. G.C. Hughes and Rev. Tommy Honeycutt officiating. Burial will follow at the Roseboro Cemetery. Mr. Matthews was born on December 19, 1928 in Cumberland County to the late William Roosevelt and Murdie Jane Autry Matthews. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict. He is survived by: his wife, Peggy Nunnery Matthews of the home; two daughters, Felicia Bradshaw and husband Charles of Autryville and Rhonda Gottfried and husband Brian of Belmont; one son, Marcus Matthews and wife Cindy of Rockwell; three sisters, Juanita Thompson of Tennessee, Jane Deeson of Florida and Phylis Naylor of Godwin; one brother, Wesley R. Matthews of Stedman; eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren. The family will receive friends on Monday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at Butler Funeral Home in Roseboro and other times at the home. Services entrusted to Butler Funeral Home, 401 W.
