Mrs. Hetty M. Whaley

FAYETTEVILLE Hetty Grace McDonald Whaley passed away Friday, July 13, 2012 at her home on Sutton Street in Fayetteville. Mrs. Whaley was born in Stedman, North Carolina on May 11, 1921 to the late Eppie Don McDonald and Minnie Augusta McDonald. She was preceded in death by husband Raymond Joseph Whaley and son Raymond Don Whaley, brothers Buddy McDonald, Cyrus McDonald, Dennis McDonald and Thomas McDonald, and sister Lena Carter. Mrs. Whaley is survived by daughter, Kay Godwin and husband Dave, son Randy Whaley and fiancé Vernita Ozolins, and granddaughter Meredith Smith Whitfield and husband Aubrey. She also leaves behind sisters Betty McDuffie and Elmaze Weeks, brothers Morris McDonald and wife Peggy and Lacy McDonald and wife Helen, the families of Meg Holcomb and Brandon Godwin, and many nieces and nephews. Mrs. Whaley's faith in God, love for her family, her loyalty to her friends and her many acts of kindness to those in need will always be remembered by those who knew her. The family will receive friends on Saturday, July 14, 2012 from 2:00 to 6:00 at 117 Sutton Street. A graveside service for the family will be held at LaFayette Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Snyder Memorial Baptist Church, 701 Westmont Drive, Fayetteville, North Carolina 28305. The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the entire staff at Liberty Hospice. The care they provided allowed her to remain in her home where she was most comfortable. Services entrusted to Butler Funeral Home of Stedman. A graveside service for the family will be held at LaFayette Cemetery.
