Mrs. Hester Josephine (Simmons) Smith, 78 of Salemburg, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, February 20, 2026 at Laird Manor in South Carolina.

A celebration of life service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, February 28, 2026 at Sunrise Memorial Gardens with the Reverend Allen Mayo officiating.

Mrs. Smith was a native of Spartanburg, SC, the daughter of Willie James and Nellie Wiggins Simmons. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Gene Woodrow Smith; and her son, Gene Dale Smith.

She leaves to cherish her memory two grandchildren, Joseph Cameron Smith and Joshua Dale Smith; four great-grandchildren; and her half-brother, Winford Lane and wife, Denise.
