Mr. Henry Earl Carter, 78

GARLAND Mr. Henry Earl Carter, 78 of 2685 Greens Bridge Road, Garland, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, June 24, 2014 at his home surrounded by his family. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Friday, June 27, 2014 at Parkersburg Baptist Church with Rev. Bryan Strickland officiating. Mr. Carter was born on November 2, 1935 in Sampson County to the late Henry Lewis and Iva Lee McDaniel Carter. He is preceded in death by: his parents; and one sister, Ruby Turner. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Army and he retired in 2007 from the Fayetteville Observer after 51 years of service. He is survived by: his wife of 50 years, Sylvia Butler Carter of the home; one son, Aaron Carter and wife, Tracy of Lumberton; one grandson, Gavin Carter; one sister, Florence Smith of Ft. Walton Beach, Florida; and a special niece, Wendy Taylor of Garland. The family will receive friends on Friday afternoon following the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Parkersburg Baptist Church, 190 Reeves Road, Garland, N.C. 28441. Services entrusted to Butler Funeral Home, 401 W.
