Mrs. Helen Holland Tew, 81

SALEMBURG Mrs. Helen Holland Tew, 81 of 1510 Hollandtown Road, Salemburg, died on Saturday, April 20, 2013 at Sampson Regional Medical Center in Clinton. The funeral will be held at 3:00 P.M. on Tuesday, April 23, 2013 at Salemburg Baptist Church with Rev. John Adams and Rev. Andy Wood officiating. Burial will follow at Sunrise Memorial Gardens in Salemburg. Mrs. Tew was born on July 4, 1931 in Sampson County to the late Harvey and Eunice Fisher Holland. She worked for Sampson Regional Medical Center for 17 years as a LPN. She then retired and cared for her grandchildren. She volunteered at Salemburg Elementary School for years in the Library. She was a faithful member of Salemburg Baptist Church and served in the church Library. She was an active member of the Daughters of the American Revolution Cornelius Harnett Chapter. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Charles Tew; son, Kendall Tew; sister, Doris Warren; brother, Clyde Holland; and sister, Ruby Hudson. She is survived by: her daughter, Wanda Tew Holden and husband Fulton of Salemburg; two grandsons, Kyle Holden of Raleigh and Stephen Holden of Salemburg; and her sister-in-law, Daphne Holland of Florida. The family will receive friends on Monday evening from 7:00 to 9:00 P.M. at Butler Funeral Home in Roseboro and other times at her home. The family would like to especially thank her caregiver, Belinda Chestnutt, for all the wonderful care given to "Helen" during her illness.
