Mrs. Hazel Doris Bunce, 84

STEDMAN Mrs. Hazel Doris Bunce, 84, of 5181 Jaycee St. passed away Sunday, August 29 at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center. She was a homemaker. A native of Sampson County, she was the daughter of the late Alvin Matthews and Bessie Williams Matthews. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Eldridge Bunce, two sisters, Elon Daniels and Esther Besse and a brother, Marcus Matthews. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 P.M., Tuesday, August 31 at Bethany Church of God with Rev. Jeff Burkhardt and Pastor Don Baldwin officiating. Interment will follow at the church cemetery. Mrs. Bunce is survived by her son, Tommy Bunce (wife Melissa) of Stedman; two daughters, Winifred Bunce of Stedman and Annette Sutherland (husband Tommy) of Conway, SC; a sister, Avancell Shatterly of Autryville; a brother, Kinston Matthews of Stedman; special sisters-in-law, Grace Matthews, Elise Bunce and Louise Bunce; brother-in-law, Leon Bunce; thirteen grandchildren, thirty-four great grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews.
