Mr. Harold Douglas Smith, Sr. 68 of 13207 NC Hwy 210, passed away Friday, October 6, 2017 at his home surrounded by his family.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00pm Monday, October 9, 2017 at Beaver Dam Baptist Church, officiating will be Rev. Mack Roberts and Rev. Bryan Strickland. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6:00pm to 8:00pm Sunday, October 8, 2017 at the funeral home.

He is preceded in death by his father, Drew Simon Smith.

Harold opened Harold's Automotive in 1994.

He was a member of Beaver Dam Baptist Church, an avid drag racer, loved horses, loved his 1954 blue Chevy truck, classic cars and tractors. Harold loved many things, but most of all he loved his family.

He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Marilyn Riley Smith; son, Harold Douglas Smith, Jr. & wife, Cassie; daughter, Christy Smith Egan & husband, Jeremy; mother, Crystelle Mathews Smith; grandchildren, Callie Paige, Laney, Brycen, Callie Hughes and Claudia; siblings, Judy Haney, Franklin Smith, Leonard Smith, Marion Smith & wife, Janet, Mary Alice Underwood & husband, Donald Ray and Arnold Smith & wife, April and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
