Mrs. Gwendolyn J. Averitt, 68

FAYETTEVILLE Mrs. Gwendolyn Jane Averitt, 68, of 6352 River Ridge Rd. died Wednesday, June 10 at her home. She was retired from the State Regional Mental Health Office. She was the daughter of the late, Arthur and Elizabeth Lockamy. She was preceded in death by her husband, Douglas G. Averitt. She was a member of St. Andrews United Methodist Church. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 P.M., Saturday, June 13 at at St. Andrews United Methodist Church with Rev. Gerry Davis officiating. Burial will follow at Fisher Cemetery. Mrs. Averitt is survived by: her son, Warren Averitt (wife Roberta), two daughters, Lora Rosser (husband Larry) and Jane-Ellen Melton (husband Charles); ten grandchildren, Hanna Averitt, Lacy Allen, Dempsey Averitt, Colin Averitt, Caroline Averitt, Daniel Rosser, Sarah Rosser, Taylor Collins, Emily Collins and Mary Collins; three great-grandchildren, Callie Allen, Lila Allen and Carson Collins. The family will receive friends from 12:00 to 1:00 P.M., Saturday June 13 at the church. Memorials may be made to The Salvation Army, 220 East Russell St., Fayetteville, NC 28301.
