Mrs. Grace Johnson Tew, 83, passed away peacefully at home in the community of Stedman, NC, where she had deep roots, surrounded by her family on Saturday, July 26, 2025.

Born in Cumberland County to Landon Edgar Johnson and Carolyn Holmes Johnson, Grace spent her entire life in Stedman, where she took special delight in the beauty of nature—wandering gardens, parks, and nurseries, enjoying the presence of trees and flowers. She found joy in life’s simple pleasures, from the sweetness of ice cream to the innocence of babies, and gave her time volunteering at the local thrift shop.

Grace lived her life with independence and dignity, leaving a unique and lasting imprint on those who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Weaver Tew; and her brother, Billy Johnson.

Grace is survived by her four children: Angela Turner and husband Bobby of Fayetteville, Melanie Tew of Raleigh, Rebecca Tew Soto and husband John of Florida, and Justin Tew of Stedman; grandchildren Brittany Howard, Kala Conoly, Heidi Dittus, Caroline Dittus, Sabrina Crandall, and Isabella Crandall; great-grandchildren Ava Howard, Ivy Howard, Kai Howard, and Dakoda Jones; and two brothers, Thomas Johnson and Danny Johnson.

A memorial service honoring Grace’s life will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, August 1, 2025, at Butler Funeral Home in Stedman. The family will receive friends from 6:00–8:00 PM on Thursday, July 31, also at Butler Funeral Home.
