Ms. Gloria Ann Smith Carter, 69 of Clinton, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 13, 2016 at Kitty Askins Hospice Center in Goldsboro.

Private services will be held at a later date.

She was born on April 5, 1946 in Sampson County to the late Adolphus George and Estelle Vera Davis Smith, and she worked as an Automotive Salesperson. She was lovingly known as "sugar" by her grandchildren.

She is survived by two daughters, Lee Ann Simpson of Fayetteville, Michelle Williams and husband Carlyle of Clinton; three grandchildren, Mary-Ashleigh Williams, Joseph Williams, Halee Simpson; and one brother, George Davis Smith of Clinton.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Kitty Askins Hospice Center, 107 Handley Park Court, Goldsboro, NC 27534.
