Gladys Rich Pope, 94 went to be with the Lord on Thursday, August 15, 2024 at Bethesda Health Care in Eastover.

Funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM Sunday, August 18, 2024 Butler Funeral Home Chapel in Stedman, officiating will be Jimmy Pope.  Burial will follow at Williams Family Cemetery in Autryville.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM to 2:50 PM Sunday at the funeral home prior to the service.  The family will also receive friends at other times at Nancy's home, 6257 Sandy Creek Road, Stedman, NC.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Mack Dowdy Rich and Lula Joanna Todd Rich; husband, James Franklin Pope; son, Douglas Lee Pope; grandchildren, Derran Johnson, Mark Hughes and Kelly Marie Pope Strickland; great grandchild, Charles Robert Smith; brothers, Lee Washington Rich, John Julius Rich, James, Albert Rich and Robert Grady Rich; her sister, Beulla Ann Rich Smith; son-in-law, Mike Crumpler; and daughter-in-law, Becky Pope.

Gladys was a member of Bethabara Methodist Church for many years.  She loved people, music, flowers and her pets.  She was such a loving person, who will truly be missed by all who knew her.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her children, Nancy Jo Pope Starling & husband, James Richard of Stedman, James Franklin Pope, Jr. & wife, Carolyn of Autryville, Jimmy Ray Pope & wife, Barbara of Elizabethtown, Patricia Kay Pope Willoughby & husband, David of Holden Beach, and Joseph Edward Pope & wife, Lillie of Autryville; 18 grandchildren; 35 great grandchildren; 13 great great grandchildren; and sister, Jerry Mack Rich Starling & husband, J.T. of Wade.
