Mrs. Gertha F. Blackwell, 101

REIDSVILLE Mrs. Gertha Ann Faircloth Blackwell, 101 of 228 Rice Road, Reidsville, passed away on Tuesday, February 3, 2009 at Annie Penn Nursing Center in Reidsville. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, February 5, 2009 at Butler Funeral Home at 1:00 P.M. with Rev. Avery Marshall officiating. Burial will follow at Stedman Church of God of Prophecy cemetery in Stedman. Mrs. Blackwell was born in 1907 in Cumberland County to the late John Henry and Repsie Ezzell Faircloth. She is preceded in death by: her husband, Luther Franklin Blackwell; three sons, Joseph Franklin Blackwell of Stedman, Louis Howard Blackwell of Greensboro, and John Wayne Blackwell of Reidsville; and a son-in-law, Morris Phillips, Sr. She was a homemaker. Mrs. Blackwell is survived by: two daughters, Bertha Ellen Phillips of Columbia, S.C., and Dale Blackwell-Coons of Reidsville; two sons, Earl Clayton Blackwell of Statesville, and Michael Kenneth Blackwell of Reidsville; one sister, Barbara Horne of Randleman; 18 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren, and 32 great-great grandchildren. Family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 7 until 9 P.M. at Butler Funeral Home, 6535 Clinton Road, in Stedman.
