AUTRYVILLE
Mr. Gerald Percy Owens, 70 4474 Autryville Road, Autryville, lost his fight with "The Big C" on Wednesday, February 1, 2012 at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center in Fayetteville and went home to fish in Heaven.
The funeral will be held at 3:00 P.M. on Saturday, February 4, 2012 at Butler Funeral Home in Roseboro. Burial will follow at the A.H. Hall Cemetery in Autryville.
Mr. Owens was born on February 28, 1941 in Sampson County to the late Marshall and Laura McPherson Owens. He was a certified auto mechanic and an avid fisherman. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He played guitar in several country music bands for approximately 20 years. He was also a member of the Moose Lodge in Clinton.
He is survived by: his wife of 50 years, Ann and made their home in Autryville; two daughters, Bobbie Anne Owens and Marcie Sue Owens Toler; one son, Ronald Dale McNeil; six grandchildren, J.R. and wife, Beckie Helms, Matthew and wife, Paloma Faircloth, Kortnee Anne Crumpler, Jeremy Smythers, Monica Owens and Laura Owens; nine great grandchildren, Emma Elise, Eithan Percy, Owen Antonio, Jessie, Christopher, Victor, Elizabeth, Mary Anne and Edwin; two sisters, Annie Riner and Adele Sims and husband, Leroy; four brothers, Harry and wife, Lynda, Billy and wife, Cindy, Cloys and wife, Estelle and Donald and wife, Vickie; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Saturday afternoon from 1:30 to 2:45 P.M. at Butler Funeral Home in Roseboro and other times at the home.
