Georgie Marie Turley Johnson

It is with heavy hearts and cherished memories that we announce the peaceful passing of Georgie, a beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and friend, who left this world surrounded by her devoted family and friends on September 24th, 2026. Born on February the 20th 1945 in Tazwell, VA. Georgie graced the world with her loving spirit and unwavering dedication to those she held dear.

Georgie was the cherished daughter of the late George Washington Turley and Lottie Poe Turley. She was predeceased by her devoted husband of 56 years, Reuben Gene Johnson, whom she married in 1969. Their union was a testament to love and companionship. Her sister, Shirley T Kiser, and brother-in-law Carl Tracy Wilford, Columbus Johnson, Willie Johnson, and Levi Johnson, as well as sister-in-law Martha Johnson, Clara Johnson, and Linda Caulder also precede her in death.

She is surrounded by her loving son, Johnny Gene Johnson and Mandie, and her stepson, Michael Gene Johnson and Tammy, along with her caring sister, EllenWilford. Her brother-in-law Reese Johnson, and sisters in law Virginia Mavropoulos and Barbara Johnson, who continue to honor her legacy. Georgie was immensely proud of her 10 grandchildren, who brought her endless joy, and her 39 great grandchildren who filled her life with laughter and love.

Georgie's nurturing spirit led her to a fulfilling career in nursing. She graduated from Fayetteville tech institute in 1979, earning her degree in nursing. Her career as a pediatric psychiatric nurse and a GI nurse was marked by her profound compassion and commitment to caring for others. Later she retired to devote herself to caring for her own parents and other family members, embodying the selflessness that defined her life.

A woman of resilience and grace Georgie found joy in the simplest of moments whether it was tending to her family or offering a helping hand to a friend in need or continuing or for gardening which she found great pleasure in watching the blooms of life period. Her legacy is one of love kindness and unwavering support, leaving an indelible mark on all who were fortunate enough to know her.

Funeral service will be held at 4:00 PM Sunday, September 27, 2026 at Butler Funeral Home Chapel in Stedman, officiating will be Pastor Ronnie Johnson and Pastor William Hall. Burial will follow at Johnson Family Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 3:00 PM to 3:50 PM Sunday at the funeral home prior to the service.

Though she has left this world the warmth of Georgie's love will forever remain in the hearts of those she touched. Her life was a testament to the profound impact one person can have on the lives of many. As we say goodbye, we celebrate the beautiful life she lived and the enduring legacy she leaves behind.
