Ms. Gaydell Parker Turner, 94 passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her family on Saturday, February 1, 2025.

Funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, February 7, 2025 at Butler Funeral Home Chapel in Stedman, officiating will be Rev. Bryan Strickland.  Burial will follow at Sandy Horne Cemetery in Autryville.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM to 1:50 PM Friday at the funeral home prior to the service.

She is preceded in death by her parents, William B. Parker and Rhoda Lee Hall Parker; husband, Kenneth Robert Turner; siblings, Bertha Lee Faircloth, John B. Parker, Glenda Warner, Archie Mac Parker, Douglas Parker, and Ray Parker; and her son-in-law, John Knittel.

Gaydell and her husband, Kenneth lived in Ohio for 17 years before returning to Autryville, where she has lived for almost 46 years.  She was a longtime member of Mount Carmel Church of God of Prophecy, where she was very active in women's ministry and she loved going to the Rudy Theatre every year with the church.  She had many jobs over her 94 years that included doing Industrial work, and being a loving caretaker to many people.  She was a devoted mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great great grandmother, and caretaker.  She was known for her sweet tea, as many called her Granny Tea, and she was also known for her cooking especially her pecan pies.  She was a strong, independent, determined and loving person.  She was often known at being a fountain of information.  She loved to talk and never let her cell phone out of her sight.  She also loved working in the tobacco and sweet potato fields with her dear friend, Lottie Horne.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her children, Vada Faircloth (Allen), Shirley Fryar (Danny), Bobby Turner (Mary) and Betty Knittel; 15 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren, and her brother, Benny Parker (Jan).

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Mt. Carmel Church of God of Prophecy Women's Ministry Fund, 1615 Mt. Carmel Church Road, Autryville, NC  28318.

Services entrusted to Butler Funeral Home, 6535 Clinton Road, Stedman, NC 28391.
