Mr. Gary Wayne Melvin, 56

AUTRYVILLE Mr. Gary Wayne Melvin, 56 of Autryville, passed away peacefully on October 18, 2014 at the VA Medical Center in Fayetteville, after a short battle with cancer. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Mr. Melvin was born on January 22, 1958 in Roseboro to the late A.F. "Bud" and Betty Williams Melvin. Gary was an active member of the Sampson Community Theatre, participating and directing numerous plays. He was a writer and contributor of news and informational articles to The Sampson Weekly newspaper. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He is survived by one daughter, Heather Elizabeth Melvin and her mother, Pamela Brown Melvin both of Autryville; his brother, Larry F. Melvin of Autryville; one sister, Kay Melvin Knisley and husband, Danny of Autryville; and family friend and step-father, David Mullens of Fayetteville Services entrusted to Butler Funeral Home, 401 W.
