Mrs. Flora C. "Flo" Butler, 92

ROSEBORO Mrs. Flora Clyde Butler, 92 , passed away on Monday, July 13, 2009 at the home of her daughter, Barbara Koehli in Leland, NC. She was born in Sampson County on December 10, 1916, the daughter of the late Aulman Robye and Alice Arlene Gordon Spell. She was also preceded in death by four brothers, Aulman Robye Spell, Gordon Spell, Lawton Spell and Rudy Spell; a sister, Cleo Kirchdorfer; and her husband, Murray H. Butler. Flora Clyde, affectionately known by her family and friends as "Flo" was a life-long resident of Roseboro where her husband was an owner and operator of Butler Furniture Company and Butler Funeral Home. She was a very dedicated member and worker in her church, Roseboro First Baptist Church, where she had many friends. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Some of her favorite pastimes included sewing and spending time with her family and friends. She will always be remembered by her jolly personality and reciting of one of her recitations. A celebration of life will be held on Thursday at 2:00 pm at the Roseboro First Baptist Church with the Rev. Hampton Faircloth and Rev. Donald Keith Carter officiating. Burial will follow in the Roseboro Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday night from 6-8 pm at Butler Funeral Home in Roseboro. Mrs. Butler is survived by: two sons, Billy Butler, of Greensboro and Robie Butler and wife Linda, of Eastover; two daughters, Barbara Butler Koehli and husband Jerry, of Leland and Brenda Butler McLamb and husband Jerry, of Salemburg; four grandchildren, Stephanie Galloway, Janet Corbley, Alison Sessoms and Kerry Ann Strickland; eight great-grandchildren. Services entrusted to Butler Funeral Home, 401 W. Roseboro Street, Roseboro.
