Mr. Festus C. Spell, 90, of 4545 Minnie-Hall Road, died on Wednesday, August 24, 2011 at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center in Fayetteville.
The funeral will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, August 29, 2011 at Halls United Methodist Church with the Rev. Carrie W. Parrish and Rev. Andy Wood officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with masonic rites.
Mr. Spell was born on June 19, 1921 in Sampson County to the late Libby Carr and Florence Butler Spell. He was preceded in death by his wife, Doris Elmore Spell, a son, F. C. Spell, Jr., a brother, Lewis Uriah Spell and a sister, Mildred Spell. He was a Army veteran of World War II and the Korean War. He was a retired automobile salesman and a member of Halls United Methodist Church. He was also a member of the Creasy Proctor Lodge No. 679 AF & AM and a Sudan Shriner.
He is survived by two daughters, Gail Spell McLamb of Clinton and Loretta Spell Faircloth of Fayetteville; four sisters, Ora "Sis" Roegiers of Dunn, Frances Hall of Fayetteville, Mabel Parker of Stedman and Patricia Hall of Autryville; two brothers, Earl Spell of Beulahville and Lutrell Spell of Fairmont; three grandchildren.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, August 28, 2011 from 6-8 PM at Butler Funeral Home in Roseboro.
