Mrs. Euna Evelene Leslie, 89

Mrs. Euna Evelene Leslie, 89 passed away on Saturday, May 7, 2016 with her family by her side.

She was the daughter of the late Nathan Campbell and Erma Matthews Williams of Wade. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by brothers, Milton Dewey Williams, Herman Elwood Williams and Prentice Wendell Williams; sisters, Marie Williams Black & Doris Autry Buchanan; sister-in law, Kathleen Black Williams; brother-in-law, James Franklin Black; and 2 nephews.

Evelene was a hard working woman all of her life and her family was one of her most important accomplishments. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She graduated from Central High School. She then was employed by Lakedale Mills. After becoming married to Franklin, she was a stay at home mother for many years. Once the children were settled in school, she went back to the workforce at Christy Manufacturing until 1969 when Purolator Products opened in Fayetteville. She worked her way into the position of line supervisor before retiring in 1990. After retiring she worked part time with Cooking Connection. She quit public work in January of 1997 at the birth of her third grandchild to become a full time wife, mother and grandmother. She was a member of Center Baptist Church in Wade, prior to joining Salem United Methodist Church, where she was a member for 65 years.

She is survived by her loving husband of 65 years, Neill Franklin Leslie, Sr. of Eastover; son, Neill Leslie, Jr. of Wade; daughter, Carol Leslie Hudson and husband, Donald of Eastover; three grandchildren, Neill Franklin Leslie, III (Trey), Jillian Smith Leslie and Leslie Elena Hudson; sisters-in-law, Alice Black Williams and Helen Autry Williams; brother-in-law, John Buchanan and 18 nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00pm Wednesday, May 11, 2016 at Salem United Methodist Church in Eastover, officiating will be Rev. David Beck. Interment will follow at Lafayette Memorial Park in Fayetteville. The family will receive friends at the church from 12:30pm to 1:45pm on Wednesday before the service.
