Mr. Eugene Thaxton Crumpler, 86 of Clinton went home to be with his Lord on Wednesday, January 19, 2022 at his home.

The funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM Sunday, January 23 at Elizabeth Baptist Church with Rev. John Hobbs officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 2:00 - 2:50 PM at the church prior to the service.

Mr. Crumpler was a native of Sampson County, the son of the late Ernest and Betty Williamson Crumpler.  He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers and four sisters.  He retired in 1999 as an equipment operator with the NC Department of Transportation.  After retirement he worked as a carpenter and farmer.  His work ethic and honesty was unquestionable.  He truly had a heart of gold.

He is survived by his wife, Doris Crumpler of the home; two sons, Bobby Crumpler and special friend, Joyce Creed of Boone; Eugene Crumpler and wife, Callie of Clinton; four grandsons, William Crumpler, II and fiance, Lisa Matie, Thaxton Crumpler, Andrew Crumpler and Scott Grantham and wife, Kelly; one great grandson, Bryce Grantham; sister, Sarah Dudley of Clinton.

The family would like to offer a special thank you to the Liberty Hospice Staff who provided wonderful care to Mr. Crumpler during his illness.
